How do I register?
Simply click the sign-up button and follow the quick steps. You select the challenge, whether it’s a marathon or a mega tournament, you decide. We’d love you to stream the challenge and share with all your friends and family.
Is it free to sign up?
#GameOverMND is free to take part in. We hope people will take part and raise money to support families affected by MND.
When can I take part?
You can take part in #GameOverMND anytime throughout the year. However, there are special event weeks during the year such as the Mega #GameOverMND week which is taking place 12 – 20 February 2022, when there will be an extra buzz around gaming and personalised Mega Week tools to use.
How do I fundraise by gaming?
There’s lots of ways of getting sponsorship and raising vital funds through gaming. We’ve put together our top 10 Fundraising tips to get you on your way!
What do I need to game?
Gaming most commonly takes place on a console (Xbox or PlayStation) or a PC, but you can choose! You could mix it up and candy crush the night away, or take it back to the old school and get out the board games!
How do I stream my event?
Check out our streaming guide for setting up your stream. We recommend you link your #GameOverMND fundraising page to your Twitch account, allowing you to stream and collect your donations at the same time – easy peasy!
Can I still fundraise if I don’t stream?
Yes! You could take on a gaming marathon without streaming and use other methods, such as updating your friends and family on social media to share your progress throughout the day.
Can I take part if I am under 18?
Yes you can! We will ask for your parent or guardian’s consent before you take on the challenge. For most streaming services you have to be over 13 to stream, so check the platform you are using for any age requirements.
How can I share my progress?
Share videos, pictures, and posts to your fundraising page and on your social media. Check out our social media tools in the toolkit. We even have a poster that you can update and post, or share around your school or workplace so your friends and family know all about your challenge and when to tune into your stream. Don’t forget to use the #GameOverMND to appear on our social feed!
How much money do I have to raise?
There is no minimum sponsorship target to take part in the challenge. Every penny counts. The more money you can raise, the more support we can provide for people living with MND today. Where does my sponsorship money go?
All of the money donated on your #GameOverMND challenge will come straight to the MND Association, which means you don't have to worry about transferring any money or handling any cash. The money you raise will help us focus on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
What is motor neurone disease (MND)?
Motor neurone disease (MND) is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease which affects the brain and the spinal cord. It can leave people locked in a failing body, unable to move, talk, swallow and eventually breathe. 5,000 people are currently living with MND in the UK. There is no cure. What should I do if I’m worried about MND?
MND Connect is our charity funded helpline and can offer information and support on all aspects of motor neurone disease (MND). MND Connect is available Monday to Friday between 9am - 5pm and 7pm - 10:30pm. Calls to this number are free from landlines and mobile phones within the UK and do not appear on itemised bills.
